Colombia is a megadiverse country, since it boasts a great variety of species of animals and plants as well as ecosystems, including the paramo, typical of the Andean mountain system.

This country is second in the world in biodiversity, second for flora and first in variety of amphibians and birds.

Colombia also has other natural riches, such as water sources, precious stones, coal, oil and nickel.

Besides these natural treasures, the country also hosts a great cultural diversity that includes about 66 local languages different from Spanish –which is anyway the most widely spoken and the official one for the whole nation.
